PowerMIDrive™ Smart Charging Incentive
$10 Monthly Incentive for Smart Charging
Already have a level 2 charger installed at your home? Enjoy up to 2,500 miles* of free driving by earning $10 per month for up to 12 months per EV.
To enroll in the program you will need to:
- Be a Consumers Energy residential electric customer
- Charge your electric vehicle using a Residential Level 2 charger or 240-volt charging cable
- Charge overnight on weekdays between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- Charge any time during weekends

Program Details
All Smart Charging Program participants must agree to participate in Consumers Energy’s Residential Time of Use Rate, Nighttime Savers, RPM_1050. When you enroll in the Smart Charging Incentive (formerly the Bring Your Own Charger Program), your electric rate will be changed as part of the process. Customers currently enrolled in Residential Smart Hours, RSH_1040 will not be required to switch rates.
There are times when you may have an urgent need to charge your EV. With the Smart Charging Incentive program, you may charge up to three times each month outside of the essentials listed above without losing your incentive for that month.
Starting March 1st, 2024, we're improving the Smart Charging Incentive program by switching incentive payouts from a quarterly to a monthly basis. Your incentive will now be credited to your Consumers Energy electric bill, ensuring your incentive reaches you faster and easier.
